PanOxyl Acne Foaming Wash is a maximum-strength, over-the-counter cleanser containing 10% benzoyl peroxide, formulated for acne-prone skin on the face, chest and back. The creamy wash lathers into a rich foam that helps remove dirt and excess oil and helps unclog pores.

Benzoyl peroxide is a well-established acne ingredient; the brand states the wash helps clear existing acne and helps prevent new breakouts. To offset some of the dryness this ingredient can cause, the formula includes glycerin, and it is free from fragrance, parabens and phthalates.

Because 10% is the highest concentration available without a prescription, start slowly with once-daily use and build up as your skin tolerates it. Benzoyl peroxide can bleach towels, pillowcases, clothing and hair, so rinse well and use white towels if possible.

How to use

Wet the skin, apply and gently massage for 1-2 minutes, then rinse thoroughly and pat dry. Start once daily and increase to 2-3 times daily if needed or as directed by a doctor; reduce frequency if dryness or peeling occurs, and use sunscreen when going outdoors.
